This course is divided into chapters. The chapters are grouped into categories called modules. There is a quiz at the end of most chapters covering the material learned in that chapter. There is a more comprehensive quiz at the end of each module which covers the online chapters in that module. The final exams cover all the material presented throughout the course.

This course consists of content pages and quizzes. To move forward in the course, simply click the NEXT button in the lower right corner of the course.  You can review any previous material by clicking the PREV button.

The amount of time you spend on each page is added to your total time spent in this course. If you stay on a page longer than five minutes, you will be logged out due to inactivity. You may log back in at any time and continue from where you left off.

There are chapter review pages at the end of online chapters. These highlight the main points covered in the course material. While they are helpful as study guides, they are not comprehensive. Do not rely solely on the chapter reviews when studying. Many students find using the supplement course materials which are included with your purchase of this course is the best way to study for the exam.

Additional Information

Steps to Becoming a Real Estate Salesperson in the State of Missouri

Timeframes are critical.

Prospective agents need to complete a 48-Hour Pre-Examination Course. After the prospective agent has completed the course, he or she will then have six months from the date the course was completed to take the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course and take and pass the real estate examination administered by AMP (the testing company) and apply for a license.

It is imperative that licensees watch their dates closely.

Step 1 – Complete the 48-Hour Missouri Salesperson Pre-Examination Course within 90 days from the date of registration.

Step 2 – From the date you complete the 48-Hour Missouri Salesperson Pre-Examination Course, you then have six months to complete these tasks:

  • Complete the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course
  • Pass the AMP state examination
  • Complete a fingerprinting background check
  • Apply for a license with a broker of your choice

The items in Step 2 can be completed in any order; however, 1st Choice Real Estate School highly recommends that all prospective licensees complete the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course before taking the AMP state examination.

Background Check

Certain criminal convictions may prevent students from receiving or retaining a real estate license. As of Jan. 1, 2011, all applicants must be fingerprinted and have a background check. If you have any questions regarding the fingerprinting or background check, they should be directed to the Missouri Real Estate Commission (MREC) at 1-573-751-2628 or the MREC website at http://pr.mo.gov/realestate.asp.  The MREC code is 0004.

Scheduling the Examination

Schedule the examination as soon as you have finished the course – while everything is still fresh in your mind. You can register for the test at http://online.goamp.com/CandidateHome/CandidateInformation.aspx

We recommend that you thoroughly review the AMP Candidate Handbook for other important information and for any changes that have occurred since the publishing of this document.

Course Registration

Course registration is simple! Review the available courses, add your selected courses to the shopping cart, set up your username and password, complete your profile information as needed for your Certificate of Completion and proceed to checkout. As soon as you complete your registration, you may immediately begin your coursework.

It is important that information on the registration portal is accurate. This is the information that will print on your certification of completion. Failure to provide accurate information will result in not receiving course credit.

When you register for the course, it is imperative that you complete all the areas of the registration screen marked with a * – this includes your state-issued real estate license number for continuing education courses. Failure to enter proper information will result in you not receiving course credit.

Failure to provide complete and accurate information that requires a replacement certificate will require a $15 certificate replacement fee and may delay the completion reporting process to the state licensing authority.

Note: When referring to license numbers on the registration screen, this means your state real estate licensing authority-issued license number – not your driver’s license number or any Realtor organization-issued identification number. If you are unsure of your license number, contact your state licensing authority. Failure to provide the correct information may delay 1st Choice Real Estate School’s course reporting process to your state licensing authority.

Study Tips

We are not going to try to sugar coat it. The licensing exam is tough! All the information provided by 1st Choice Real Estate School is written in accordance with state and national guidelines to help prepare you for the test. It is important that you have prepared for the examination by studying, reviewing your quizzes and taking advantage of the material provided to you.

On average, Missouri students carry a 50% pass rate on the real estate exam.  Don’t let this statistic scare you; just please make sure you are well-prepared.  Our goal is that you pass the first time! Following are some general guidelines for studying:

  • Your study space should be as quiet and comfortable as possible – avoid studying in noisy places such as cafeterias, recreation rooms or lounges.
  • Keep everything you need to study handy – this eliminates valuable time searching for books, notes and other information.
  • Take a 10 minute break every 50 minutes.
  • Do not memorize information – learn concepts.
  • Complete all online chapters, book chapters and supplemental reading assignments.
  • Take notes.
  • Never study within 30 minutes of going to sleep.
  • Schedule study time.
  • Complete the course as soon as possible – within 30 to 60 days is best.

Completing a Course

Courses are available to you online 24 hours a day. It is not necessary to complete an entire course in one sitting. You may log in and out of the course as often as you wish.  The system will start you back at the last section you completed before logging out.

The system will automatically log you out due to periods of inactivity. The timing is set to five minutes per content page. If you get timed out, you may simply log back in and continue from where you left off unless you are in an exam.

End-of-Course Examinations and Grading Policy

All course final exams are taken online. In compliance with the Missouri Real Estate Commission, a score of 80% or better must be achieved in order to receive credit for the course. You are allotted two attempts to take the final examination. It is highly recommended that you study before attempting the final examination.

The final examination is a timed test.

  • You will be given three hours to pass this exam. If you fail the first attempt, you will be given a second attempt to pass. If you do not pass the second attempt, you will be charged a $50 fee to reset the exam and give you two more attempts.

Student Support

The AMP state-administered examination has a less than 50% pass rate. It is a hard, hard test and can cause even the best test takers to crumble under its complexity. We want you to be well-prepared. We cannot stress enough how important it is to be prepared for the state-administered AMP examination. If you have a question about a particular topic, need study help or testing tips – please do not hesitate to contact the school. A full menu of extra study resources can be found under the Resources tab of the school website. We find that students who take advantage of these resources have a greater chance of passing the state-administered licensing examination the first time.   The study resources include exam preparation tests, one-on-one tutoring, real estate text books and so much more. Many of our online course packages contain supplemental courses / materials. 1st Choice Real Estate School highly recommends that students complete all the course materials to increase your chances of a first-time pass.

Note:  1st Choice Real Estate School student first-time pass rate can affect our school accreditation with the state licensing authority. We want our students to pass the state licensing examination the first time through. 1st Choice Real Estate School reserves the right to deny a Certificate of Completion, with no refund issued, to any student who we feel is not ready to take the state licensing examination.
